Our Studio

Origin is an interior architecture and design studio based in Malta, working across residential, commercial and hospitality projects. Our main mission is to create beautiful, feel-good spaces that tell authentic stories for our clients, drawing on a wide range of styles and rare, one-of-a-kind touches made possible by our global network of artisans and makers.

We are passionate about craftsmanship and heritage, both in the pieces we source across the globe, and the spaces they occupy. Honouring the history of Maltese buildings is a big part of the work we do, preserving their timeless beauty and craft while injecting new life and adding a contemporary flair.

We offer full design services as well as smaller curated packages, so our signature look and unique approach is accessible whether in the form of a few pieces of furniture, or an entire interior revamp.

Yasmine Grech | Founder & Designer

I began my interior design journey at at KLC School of Design in Chelsea, London. After graduating, I spent a few years working with a number of renowned design studios in London, mostly specialised in hotels and restaurants across the UK, Europe and the Middle East. Together with a team, I designed interiors for prominent hospitality brands including Marriott, Anantara and Four Seasons.

I returned to my home, Malta, bringing back all the knowledge I’d absorbed from thriving in the design core of Europe, to start my own practice. To me, each design project is a story and creative exercise, where I can weave beautiful elements together and create spaces in which my clients feel themselves, and feel their best - living, thriving and growing through time.

In addition to this, watching rapid developmental changes sweeping Malta in the last few years, I have made it my mission to shed light on Maltese architectural heritage. In all my work I aim to preserve, uplift and embellish this precious cultural identity.

    We creatively upcycle and source second-hand gems wherever possible, to mitigate the large amounts of waste that can come with renovation projects.

    We are hugely inspired by the beauty of traditional Maltese buildings, aesthetics and culture. We love to weave this heritage into our designs.

Crafted Global Treasures

We source and curate an unparalleled collection of artisanal, handcrafted and restored pieces from makers across the globe through our sister brand, Maison Souk. The brand was born out of a passion for design, a love for travel and an appreciation of craft and heritage - all values which also find themselves in our interior design practice. It is a space for us to inspire and be inspired, to uncover stories and retell them as each piece finds its new home.
